The DA-RC is excited to announce that avid 11m dx adventurist 172DA010 Kevin will undertake an exhilarating Islands On The Air mini-ped activity in
The QRZ for this much anticipated IOTA activity will be 172DA/FK-025 with the special FK suffix allocated to this island dxstination by the Diplome des Iles de la France Metropolitaine (D.I.F.M.) (See http://www.difm.org/).
Walpole Island is a spectacular raised limestone formation and, except for hovering frigatebirds, uninhabited French island which is located 180 km east of Nouvelle-Calédonie in the South Pacific Ocean. One of three eastern islands claimed as dependent territories of 172 division, Walpole is also the southernmost island of Melanesia, a subregion of Oceania extending from the western end of the Pacific Ocean to the Arafura Sea, and eastward to Fiji.
Given that renowned databases Islands Base Online and Cluster dk show no records of any previous 11m DX work from the island, this promises to be one of the most sought-after IOTA activities of the year and one of the many highlights on a busy DA-RC DXpedition calendar!
